"Responsible Journalism" Taught at International AIDS Conference in
Toronto
Hey Anita and David and All,
I happened to have read the transcript myself late into the
evening… it was very telling and interesting that a number of
session participants defended challenging the scientific concensus
whereas John Moore and Nathan Geffen were the most strident in
opposing a balanced perspective on ‘HIV/AIDS’ [un]coverage especially
in "resource poor settings" like South Africa where it was thought
they were not as intellectually mature enough to decipher "the
truth." They promoted their Anti-Dissident website, AIDStruth, and
one panelist, Richard Horton I believe, critisized the use of the term
‘truth’
as if any one party held a monopoly on it. In the overarching theme
of journalistic colaboration with scientists, one wise soul commented it
would be better for journalists to be taught how to decipher
truth [ie: what it looks like] by scientists rather than simply told what
it is. Others also said it would be better if scientists
made themselves more available to journalists and that journalists
often reprint essentially verbatum and without critique, press
releases by the scientists. Beyond these general confessions, many
offered ‘testimonials’ of the belief that, ofcourse, the basic
assumptions behind the ‘HIV/AIDS’ paradigm was beyond question or
unquestionable.
Hardly anyone defended the balanced media coverage of AIDS dissidence and
Dissidents.

Dear All,
The International AIDS Conference in Toronto held a session on
"responsible journalism."
Looking at the participants – John Moore, Nathen Geffen, Laurie
Garrett, Tamar Kahn I was tempted to ignore it, but then couldn’t
resist downloading a transcript (theres also a video) and wonder
of wonders a reference to Celia Farber’s Harpers article in opening
remarks and all the lunatic denialists. Attached is the
transcript.
Please send around.

Best,
Anita
Just before the XVI international AIDS Fest I had a letter published
in the Globe and Mail trying to explain why a woman would risk jail
and the loss of her children in order to avoid the drug AZT (a DNA
chain terminator). It’s not unusual that I write to ‘Canada’s
National Newspaper’ but it is unusual that they publish my letter.
The original article, my letter etc. are at:
http://www.aras.ab.ca/articles/200608-Crowe-AZT.html
This letter became a subject of discussion at a forum in Toronto on
the subject of how to completely close the media to alternative views
(it is a sin, in the view of these ‘scientists’ that the media is
only 99% closed). ‘Responsible Journalism’ means making sure that no
articles, letters to the editor or even advertisements question the
HIV/AIDS theory. During this symposium my letter was mentioned in a
derogatory fashion, along with the Alberta Reappraising AIDS Society.
The complete video, audio or text transcript is:

The most relevant part is when John Moore said <<David Crowe is a
well-known AIDS denialist. He’s the president of the Alberta
Re-appraising AIDS Society. It’s probably him and his dog.>>
If you support the aims of this society please feel free to send John
Moore an email. You can tell him of your support, plus why you have
questions about the HIV=AIDS dogma. I would not advise doing this if
you wish to remain anonymous. His email jpm2…@med.cornell.edu

The spelling mistakes (such as "Gallow" for "Gallo") are not even
corrected in the transcript of "HIV Science and Responsible
Journalism" (aka "How to justify censorship of open discussion in
science") at the XVI AIDS Festering … and here’s my local city
newspaper, the "Calgary Herald" publishing an article with the title
"Are we being bamboozled on HIV/AIDS link?" (August 21 page A13).
The columnist is Kevin Brooker.
Didn’t the Calgary Herald get the free re-education offered in Toronto?
I can’t find a free online version of the article, and the specifics
aren’t too important. There’s nothing really new, it’s just a concise
summary of questions about HIV/AIDS with a little sarcasm thrown in.
You can verify the article’s existence by the URL
"http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/archives/search_results.html…=HIV%2FAIDS+link&searchtype=1&x=31&y=11"
If anyone does find the full version online without restrictions
please let me know.
The real importance of the article is that it popped up just after
the conference ended.
Anyway, a few quotes….
"I, however, do not [believe that it is everyone's moral duty to send
AIDS drugs to Africa] and this evidently puts me in the category of
people who are also opposed to puppies, sunshine and war widows."
"In the simplest terms, I do not believe in the hypothesis that
HIV=AIDS=Death. In my view, and that of many others, there is
overwhelming scientific evidence to refute the widely promoted
‘facts’ concerning AIDS, including its alleged cause and purported
lethality."
"Those who try to present their dissident findings at AIDS
conferences are routinely shouted down, treated to ad hominem
attacks, and slurred as ‘denialists’."
"It is a bloated bureaucracy riddled with dubious science and
questionable pharmaceutical interventions. Not only are AIDS tests
unreliable, but many of the so-called drug cocktails have been widely
proven to be toxic"
(and so on and so on…)
This article was stimulated by an email I sent to the columnist based
on a previous somewhat questioning article. I know this not because
he talked to me but because he plugged the http://aras.ab.ca website.
So don’t give up on your local journalists. Some of them never got to
drink the koolaid that people like John Moore and Nathan Geffen love
to prepare. And if we get to them first, the truth is a good immunity!

Wish I’d been there to cheer the panellists on.
