Well the smallest is two if you are using Trizavir only.  This only
works if you are not very bad off and you can tolerate AZT and
Abacavir since Trizavir is made of three drugs in one pill that you
take 2x day.  Abacavir can cause a fatal illness in some people and
AZT can cause anemia which is unpleasant but treatable also nausea
and/or vomiting which may or may not be treatable.  Nobody seems to
have problems with the third ingrediant, 3TC.

The sky is really the limit on the high end because after the virus
becomes resistant to many medications people sometimes try taking lots
of different types of anti-virals a day.  Here’s a Google search that
    will return information about that:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=mega-haart+OR+megahaart

In addition, anti-virals aren’t the only medications people need.
There are anti-fungals, antibiotics, appetite enhancers, anti-wasting
drugs, etc.  Plus some anti-virals now require injections instead of
pills.  Androgel is an ointment of sorts.

Don’t even get me started on nutritional supplements.  Right now I’m
only taking HAART every other week so on an "off week" I "only" take
    40 – 50 pills a day–all over-the-counter supplements.

Also there’s the dietary modifications to prevent lipodystrophy,
diarrhea, etc. the detoxification procedures to deal with medication
    side-effects.

Oh, my God, fifty a day…. Yes, I was offered Trizivir and returned the
pills – because I read that I had to wear a emergencysertificate with the

when you are nervous – so I found it better live with the death in pocket

    HIV/AIDS Patient
    By Louis Rios
    Hello.
My name is Louis Rios and I would like to share my testimony on how
Noni juice has helped turn my AIDS status back to just HIV!
I was diagnosed with HIV in March of 1986, and a few years ago, I was
diagnosed with AIDS. Since 1986, I have had many health problems.
But the worst ones didn’t come around until 1996; ten years later.
By early 1997, my weight had decreased down to just 115 pounds, and I
had become so weak that I was assigned a wheelchair from the
Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Houston where I receive my
primary health care. My viral load (a test that determines the amount of
HIV cells in a ml of blood) had increased to over 170,000, and my T4
count (T4′s are the main cells of the immune system) had gone down to
80 (a normal count is 1,000+). In the winter months of 1997 I was
getting very sick all the time, having to stay in bed much of the time
because, even if I wasn’t sick, I was so weak I couldn’t do anything. In
fact, my wife had to take over all of my duties around the house. I
couldn’t even take out the trash. I had also developed a serious sinus
infection that I couldn’t even smell or taste, and was getting major sinus
pains everyday of which I had to take medicine for. I was so skinny, that
I would get very sick with high fevers if I did any kind of activity. Plus,
no matter how much clothes I put on, my bones would literally feel pain
from the cold weather which in turn would make me sick with a fever,
and back in bed I went for at least a couple of days. And if all that
wasn’t enough, I wasn’t able to take any medications for AIDS because
they would have poisonous effects on me. For years, every time a new
medication had come out, I would try it with the same results. Even
after just taking a half of a dose of any of these meds, I would get
violently ill for more than 24 hours. In those 24+ hours, I would be
throwing up about every hour, and I would become so weak that I
couldn’t get out of bed for any reason and I would have to sleep most of
that time. I couldn’t even eat or drink anything, because I would throw
that up as well. I was such a terrible mess that I didn’t think I was going
to make it through Christmas of ’97.
Luckily, I made it to Spring of ’98 and I was now expecting, like in past
years, to start gaining weight and feeling better. But that wasn’t
happening like before. I had remained in the same condition that I was
in throughout the winter. That’s when I told my wife that I’m definitely
not going to make it to Christmas of ’98 unless God intervenes and does
something about it real soon. Then I went ahead and made out my last
    will and testament.
Now, it’s late in May of ’98 and I go in to the VA hospital to undergo
major sinus surgery to clear out my sinuses that were completely filled
with infection. Around the same time, my wife was notified that she had
won fourth place in a local online contest that she had entered earlier
that month. But, because she was in last place, she didn’t receive any of
the pre-selected prizes because those had been taken by the higher
placed winners (God had set it up that way: She had also won a second
bottle the very next month under the same circumstances.
So, she was left to receive the only prize that was left, that little did we
know, would be our miracle! That prize was a bottle of Noni juice. I had
thought; oh no, this is some health nut’s product that isn’t going to do
me any good, so I didn’t give any further thought to it. I believed that if
pharmaceuticals couldn’t help me, this stuff certainly couldn’t. I was
completely skeptical. But my wife, thank God, had started to drink one
ounce a day as recommended, and soon started to notice that her energy
levels had gone up and that she was getting stronger, and was now able
to do more and not get tired. Plus, she noticed that she had gotten
feeling back in her leg that the week before, had injured it by falling
hard at the back door steps which had caused her to lose feeling to that
leg. Plus, at the point where she had hit her leg, all the pain had
stopped. So, she got me to start taking Noni Juice the first day I got
back home from surgery. She had given me 3 ounces to drink that night.
The very next day, I had so much energy, that I had forgotten all about
my doctor’s orders to stay rested so I would not start bleeding from my
nose and wind up back in the hospital, and I went out grocery shopping
and run other errands that I needed to do, and guess what? It didn’t
hurt me to do all that like the doctor thought it would.
After about a month of being on Noni Juice, I had gone to see my doctor
who had persuaded me to try a new combination of drugs that had just
come out. I really didn’t want to try them because I knew how these
drugs had effected me in the past, but I went ahead and took them
home. That evening, I started by just taking half a dose, like before, of
Crixivan to see if I can tolerate even that. A few hours went by and I
noticed I wasn’t feeling any side effects. Then, the next day, I took a full
dose and a few hours later, again I didn’t notice any side effects. My
wife, noticing that I wasn’t ill, had asked me if I had even started taking
my new meds. I told her yeah, but not only that, I’ve been taking full
doses without any side effects, and at the same time, we looked at each
other and said the same thing, "Noni". The Noni juice had allowed me
to tolerate the medications that in the past would have had poisonous
effects on me. But not only that, I wasn’t even suffering from diarrhea,
the most common side effect that other HIV and AIDS patients were
    getting with these same meds.
Now about 3 weeks after I started the new meds, my doctor had ordered
a viral load and T4 test. A week later, I got the most incredible news!
My viral load was down to around 3,000 and my T4′s had increased to
    240. I haven’t had them that high in 5 years! These results are highly
remarkable! I know of an AIDS patient in California, after being sent
home by his doctor to die in ’97, had started to drink 6 ounces of Noni
Juice daily for 37 days, and went from a viral load of over 750,000 down
to only 108,000; and that was by just taking the Noni Juice alone
without any other medications. I too, was getting the same kind of
results by just taking 2 ounces a day of Noni Juice and my medications.
Today, I still have HIV, but I’m not in the Aids stage any longer. Plus,
the viral load shows I hardly have any HIV cells left in my blood and
my T4′s are above 200. But also, now I’ve gained weight and strength
again to the point where I don’t have to use my wheelchair anymore! I
have tried to wear myself out throughout the month of August by
keeping myself active all day, but I can’t; and the next day, I’m ready to
do it all over again. I can even go grocery shopping after spending a
whole day walking around and pushing my two toddlers in their stroller
at Astroworld (a local amusement park in Houston, Texas)! In fact, I
now feel healthier than your average healthy person. All thanks to God
by providing an all natural fruit drink from a fruit that grows on a tree
that God made himself called the Noni tree, and it only grows
healthfully in the French Polynesian Islands in the South Pacific Ocean.
I can now do whatever I want to all day; play with my kids, work
around the house, work on my vehicle, go shopping, and even make love
to my wife, without ever getting tired, sore, or sick like would happen to
    me before.
God has answered our prayers and those prayers that had come from
our family and friends! Thank you Father, thank you Chuck Nelson for
putting up a bottle of Noni Juice in the contest, thank you Mike Stewart
and Teresa Presley for all your continued support, and I thank all those
who read this, because without being able to share God and Noni juice
to the world, none of this would have had any meaning whatsoever! God
    bless you all!
UPDATE: I have received my blood test results from blood taken
August 25th 1998, and my viral load is now down to just 839 and my
T4′s have remained above the 200 mark! My doctor is very happy for
    me!
It is now 1-11-99 and I haven’t gotten a single cold or flu since I have
started drinking the juice! This proves that even healthy people can
benefit from drinking Noni Juice because it can boost the immune
system to help them from catching colds, flu’s, and other illnesses in the
future. I know of others who are "generally healthy" and have already
gotten the flu this winter, but I have not; even after doing my walking
routine one day in the freezing rain we got right before Christmas ’98!
Plus, my weight has increased to 125. My doctor has now ordered me to
continue to use Noni juice in combination with my medicines.
SPECIAL NOTE: Always follow your doctor’s advice, and let him/her
know that you have started drinking Noni juice; an all natural fruit
juice that creates a natural alkaloid called Xeronine in your body to
help your organs work more effectively and efficiently so that your body
can heal itself and help prevent future health challenges. Many patients
have reported that it was necessary to either cut back or stop their
medications after some time after beginning to drink Noni Juice because
their condition has improved to where they don’t need as much
medication or none at all. Only your doctor can tell you to cut back or
stop your medications; which they would be happy to do if your are
indeed improving. So if you start to feel side effects after some time
after starting to use Noni Juice, go see your doctor because the most
likely cause is from the medications that you either need to cut back or
no longer need. Noni Juice has never been known to cause any side
effects or drug contraindications, but do not drink Noni Juice if you are
taking immuno-supression drugs (ie; such as those prescribed for
patients that have had an organ transplant), because Noni Juice can
boost the immune system, not suppress it! Now, once

Avoiding stress and living a sensible lifestyle is one of the most
important factors in the management of any chronic disease.  But how
we handle stress is different for each of us, and your decision
    would be stressful for others.

Interestingly there’s a nutritional supplement which is being
provided by some groups in South Africa, World Vision being one of
the more reputable ones, which is being touted as being superb when
taken with protein rich food.  It is actually a porridge which is a
"just add milk (or water)" variety and the recommendation is to add
peanut butter to the diet – lots of peanut butter.

The total cost of this – and bear in mind that it provides at least
one, sometimes one and a half meals per day – is under US$10 per
person per month.  I am sponsoring one bag of this per month to one
family – HIV status unknown as it works for everyone.

The thinking is that it needs very few other supplements.  It is
used with ordinary asprin and is reckoned to be more effective than
the old single dosages of AZT at almost no cost.

Bush plan to solve the AIDS crisis: Give them Smallpox vaccine !

Our great leader, George W. Bush, has come up with a nifty plan to
solve the AIDS problem. He proposes to have 10 milion people
    vaccinated for Smallpox.

Many people do not see the connection between the smallpox vaccine and
AIDS, but there is a connection. The Smallpox vaccine kills the HIV
virus. It does so by killing the host! xxx

According to the New York Times for today, December 14, 2002, public
health experts say that the vaccine "can cause serious complications
and even death, particularly among people with immune deficiencies."

The people with immune deficiencies are almost entirely people with
AIDS or who are HIV positive. Many of these people are living secret
lives, not wanting anybody to know that they are HIV positive.
Therefore, when offered the smallpox vaccine, they will have no choice
but to accept it, even knowing that it might kill them, or else reveal
    their secret.

This plan to cure the HIV virus is fully in accord with the group that
got Bush elected: The Religious Right. The Falwell Group has long
opposed the development of treatment and cures for AIDS, on the ground
that AIDS is "God’s Punishment". The new Bush plan will undoubtedly
meet with the full approval of the Falwall Group and will assure the
    re-election of George W. Bush in 2004.

What does your analysis conclude about the smallpox vaccine in the light
of the fact that until approx. 25 years ago virtually everyone in the US
    received it?

Smallpox is also more likely to kill anyone who’s immunocompromised,
    such as someone with AIDS.

Anyone who cannot take the vaccine (due to AIDS or anything else) can
tell their doctor, who will keep that info confidential.

Many people do not see the connection because there isn’t one.

Nor were skin diseases, which are relatively common today, an issue back
    then.

Most of these people don’t even know they are HIV+, especially the
young females — the fastest growing HIV+ group.  They are still
living under the delusion only gays and Africans can get it.

Look at the bright side. It will slow down the spread of HIV, by
killing off all the carriers who don’t know they are infected and are
    running around having unprotected sex.

I am HIV+ so can’t take the vaccine.  That means I have no defense
against smallpox.  If I get it, with my weak immune system, I am
definitely toast.  This is part of my motivation for wanting to
impeach Bush before he leads the world into a smallpox food fight.

Uh oh.  Any mention of George W. "I can’t figure out
what to do next; let’s bomb Iraq to look constructive"
Bush and my brain begins to hurt.

Considering that smallpox is a DNA-based virus and AIDS is
a RNA retrograde virus which presumably mutates every year,
much like the common influenza virus, I fail to see the
connection at all, although what you outline down below
    is a nasty possibility.

Ye gods, I hope not.  Unfortunately I’m not sure Kerry will
have enough name recognition to topple our current sitting
Prez, and I don’t know who else to suggest in his stead.

(And no, I doubt the Repubs would nominate anyone else.
George has been rather successful in promoting their
policies, economy notwithstanding.  There is a thin ray
of hope, though (and unfortunately a Dobbson’s choice):
if the economy continues its current sour ways, we might
get a Democrat in there — but that would be after 2 years
of whatever the heck this pain is.  It’s not a recession,
exactly, but I wouldn’t call it much of a recovery either.)

    That’s just plain silly.

For one: a huge number of people will deliberately neglect to take the
smallpox shot for fear of its (rather bad) negative side effects.

About 25 years ago there was a deadly strain of virus going around. Asian
flu? The virus had deadly side effects according to the media. Anyway, the
standard joke was: You turkeys get the vaccinantion then it won’t spread to
    me.

    What is the silly part?

    1. that the vaccine might harm them?

    2. that someone would not want their HIV status revealed?

    3. That some would consider the pain of being revealed as greater than
the pain of the risk of the vaccination harming them?

    4. something else?

Legend has it that a young Sparta boy once stole a live fox, planning
to kill it and eat it. He noticed some Spartan soldiers approaching,
and hid the fox beneath his shirt. When confronted, to avoid the
punishment he would receive if caught stealing, he allowed the fox to
chew into his stomach rather than confess he had stolen a fox, and did
not allow his face or body to express his  pain.
