RONALD REAGAN DEAD AT 93: PRESIDENT’S STATEMENT ON THE DECADE-LATE DEATH
OF THAT DEPENDS®-WEARING HOLLYWOOD PHONY WHO EVERYONE LIKED WAY MORE
THAN THE BUSHES

Statement by the President

THE PRESIDENT: Today brings historic news that will for some reason
sadden certain Americans. Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th President of
the United States, has finally, at long last, succumbed to the terrible
disease with which the Good Lord, in all of His mysterious wisdom, chose
to slowly and methodically torture him for ten long years. That’s right
my friends, having had a whole decade’s worth of fun, Jesus has formally
decreed that it’s "bedtime for Bonzo" – and today, the Gipper met the
Reaper.

(Dabs tear from eye.)

Yes, it is sad. We spent eighteen months planning my statesmanlike D-Day
photo-op in Omaha, France – only to have Nancy pull the plug on Ronnie
just in time to steal my thunder. Even in death, Ronald Reagan is
grabbing the spotlight from a Bush. But let us take some solace in the
knowledge that with His wonderful sense of irony, the Lord had President
Reagan succumb to the same thing that all those AIDS-stricken folks he
ignored throughout the 1980′s did – pneumonia.

Yes, at the overly-ripe old age of 93, Ronald Reagan lived longer than
any other President in our nation’s history, despite my family’s
mutually supportive friendship with the Hinckleys. Often credited as
being the father of the modern conservative movement, "Dutch" casts a
long and impossible-to-escape shadow over every right-wing borrow-and-
spend trickle-downer like me who has come in his wake. With the passage
of time, he has become an icon. And even though people in the know can
tell you Reagan was really just an affably senile zombie propped up by a
Nixon-groomed cabal of brilliantly nefarious underlings, today I will do
nothing but sing his praises. Because what’s that old expression?
Something about "people who live in grass houses shouldn’t get stoned,"
right?

Anyway, I know Ronald Reagan had a lot of fans, and since this is an
election year, I want people to believe that I not only revered him, but
AM him – even though I’m not going to lollygag for seven decades to
begin to lose my ability to speak and think!

So let it be thought throughout the land that I always respected the
Gipper – even when he was my daddy’s boss. Even every year from 1981-
1989, when Poppy would call Reagan a know-nothing California phony
between gulps of single-malt scotch, then hack our Thanksgiving turkey
to pieces with a cleaver while shrieking, "take THAT, you saggy-necked,
job-stealing old buzzard!" And also let people think that I always
respected President Reagan’s pretty wife Nancy, too – even when mom
would scratch her eyes out of magazine photos and call her "that stuck-
up skin-and-bones rhymes-with-mucking-door." Sure, I may have joined Mom
and Doro in the Kennebunkport garage for the occasional spirited game of
"Club the Actress," but my heart was never really in it when I was
holding a Zippo to the hem or doing my mark-of-Zoro-thing with carpet
cutters on Mom’s mannequin in the red Adolfo gown.

Indeed, I have always taken pains to appear to like the Reagans – if for
no other reason than I understand that my family name would have been a
steaming pile of political poo if it hadn’t been for Dutch. Even after
he whooped my daddy’s ass in the 1980 Republican primaries, Ronald
Reagan not only showed pity and let my daddy join him on the GOP ticket,
but then showed his confidence in Poppy’s abilities by routinely letting
him be a stand-in at fancy funerals for famous dead folks. And as a
result, my father was able to keep our family’s many bathrooms fully
stocked with only the finest soaps, lotions and towels from five-star
hotels all the world over. For that, I cannot help but be silently
grateful.

You know, I still remember the first time my father ever took me to
visit the Oval Office. The year was 1985. President Reagan was poring
over the newly-released "Garfield & Odie Adventures" treasury, and his
signature musk of Grecian Formula, Old Spice and sodden Depends® hung
heavy in the air. As my daddy approached the grand old desk to
diligently top off the President’s Sanka, Reagan looked up. With that
famous twinkle in his eye, he beckoned me to his side, smiled that
charming crooked smile, then gestured to my father and asked, "Who’s the
fairy serving coffee?" It was then, at that very moment, I knew that I
myself could and should aim much higher than just bankrupting a
succession of suspiciously financed Texas oil corporations. Yes, I could
aim for the very tip-tippity-top: the Presidency of the United States of
America!

And so today, with President Reagan’s body still warm, I want all the
people who worshipped him to take note of the many non-superficial ways
in which I just coincidentally seem so mega-similar to him. From our
mutual fondness for dressing up as cowboys to hang out on our camera-
ready luxury "ranches," to our firm belief in 35-hour work weeks
punctuated with plenty of energy-restoring naps, President Reagan and I
are cut from the very same denim. Indeed, we both delegate all the
complicated stuff, can’t be bothered with boring old facts, and scared
America into spending billions of dollars to fight an "Evil Empire." He
choose Russia, I went with Iraq – both based on solid intelligence that
they were already harmlessly crumbling from within. And that is why,
taken as a whole, I’d much rather have voters associate me with Uncle
Ronnie than with my own daddy, who is, I’m sorry to say, just a sissy
one-termer who nobody liked enough to re-elect.

In closing, as much as my fiercely competitive family may privately
resent and despise that spotlight-stealing B-actor for having hijacked
the throne of conservatism from its rightful Bush holders, we also know
better than anyone how best to exploit death and morbid sentimentality
for political gain. That is why I pledge today that the American public
can count on me to invoke Ronald Reagan’s so-called achievements in
every speech from now until Election Day – typically within two to three
sentences of the first 9/11, "evildoer," or "lovers of FREEDOM®"
reference.

Ronald Reagan always told us that for America, the best was yet to come.
I know, I know – leave it to a fruity actor to find a life philosophy in
a Sinatra song, right? But let me tell you something – he was right.
Because after him came Bushes. And one day soon, after Poppy’s term and
my two terms and Jebber’s two terms and Marvin’s two terms – and hell,
maybe even Noelle’s terms – we’ll rename that Reagan airport and
aircraft carrier after us, slap our family portrait on the zillion
dollar bill, and bulldoze that geriatric asswipe’s legacy right off the
face of the public consciousness!

In closing, it is with a heavy heart that I recall that Ronnie was not a
born-again evangelical Christian like I say I am, but a divorced fair-
weather believer who tried, but never quite got the hang of using Jesus
for political gain. So as I told Nancy in my phone call to her from Air
Force One’s mechanical bull, "It’s always sad when the unsaved begin
their treacherous journey towards the gaping mouth of Hell’s eternal
bar-b-que."

And so, let us bow our heads in recognition that Mr. Reagan has slipped
the girly bonds of Earth to kiss the face of Satan.

Thank you, and God Bless Bush America.

Lensectomy

In 2001 I had  Lasik procedure done to my both eyes aiming for a mono
vision with my right eye to be corrected for distance and left for
reading. Procedure was not success so enhancement was made to my right
eye only but with no avail then an astigmatism correction with a small
scission to my cornea was performed but no go again. Due to the fact
that I can not tolerate wearing glasses I decided to have  Lensectomy
performed to my right eye first with a prospect to procede with left
eye later on. The procedure was performed now just under two weeks
back, following day after the operation I was reading 20/20 vision
chart and I could see clearly in the distance. Needless to say I was
ecstatic but my happines did not last long as two days following the
surgery I experienced a set back and my vision become blured. On the
consequent visit to my surgeron he infored me that although my vision
did change it changed in a good direction. You can imagine that Im a
bit sceptic now and would like to ask your opinion as I tend to think
that he had inserted lens either too strong or too weak. If you have
some suggestion for me I would appreciate it very much.

A MODEST PROPOSAL

from the "don’t feed the hand that bites you" department

CHICAGO — A doctor’s proposal asking the American Medical Association to
endorse refusing care to attorneys involved in medical malpractice cases
drew an angry response from colleagues Sunday at the annual meeting of the
nation’s largest physicians group.

Many doctors stood up to denounce the resolution in passionate speeches —
even after its sponsor, Dr. J. Chris Hawk, asked that it be withdrawn.

Hawk, a South Carolina surgeon, said he made the proposal to draw attention
to rising medical malpractice costs. The resolution asks that the AMA tell
doctors that — except in emergencies — it is not unethical to refuse care
to plaintiffs’ attorneys and their spouses.

"It expresses the frustration I have with a broken system," said Hawk. He
said doctors are leaving his state or retiring early because of insurance
premiums — making it harder for patients to receive care.

Neurologist Michael Williams said although he understood Hawk’s frustration,
the resolution never should have been introduced because it seeks to
discriminate against a group of people.

The resolution left the AMA "a really big mess to clean up," Williams said.

For years, the AMA’s top legislative lobbying priority has been the medical
malpractice system, and some delegates said the resolution could hurt those
efforts by giving trial lawyers ammunition.

AMA committees considered more than 250 reports and resolutions Sunday. The
committees will make recommendations to the group’s delegates, who will
begin voting Monday afternoon on policies to adopt.

Last week, the daughter of a Mississippi legislator said she was denied
treatment by a plastic surgeon because her father opposes limits in damage suits
against doctors.

The End Of HAART

1. simple rule of supply and demand.  High demand plus low supply =
high prices.

2. In 1800 human population approximately 800 million; in 2010 7
billion.

3. More growth of developed world and emerging 3rd world = more demand
for oil.

4. Rate at which oil can be extracted from the earth is not growing as
fast as the demand.

5. Growth will be capped but growth is a must so recession after
recession.

6. Alternative energy is dependant on oil too.  Ironic, no?  Takes oil
to make solar, wind, nuclear, etc.  Why?  Oil has the most "bang for
the buck."

7. High price for oil cripples manufacturing.

8. HAART requires manufacturing.

9. HAART goes *poof*

Last Ditch Effort

I reluctantly post the following.  This is a bit off the subject so I
will keep it brief.  Any response, questions or comments may reach me
at sgs19sixty…@hotmail.com.
I am a 38 year old male living in Texas, and have three small
children for which I alone am responsible.  I was a practicing
attorney for the last 11 or 12 years, but have been unable to practice
for the last year as I have battled Lymes disease since 1993.  Anyone
familiar with the desease understand that it is a chronic illness
which is quite dibilitating.  Still up until last year I was able to
maintain a practice, but was eventually hospitalized and put on a
resperator for several weeks as a result of a weekend immune syatem.
Since, I have gotten back home and am able to take care of the
children, but have exhausted my savings. I am loath to seek any sort
of welfare, as my mind is still quite agile, and I am convenced given
time I can be productive. I have several interesting ideas I would
eventually like to patten, and have in the past written some very well
recieved newsletters regarding the toxic culture, that I as an
attorney, have seen our children confronted with.
What I need more than anything is time, and as painful as it is I
am asking for any assistance that you good folks can spare. Security
seems such a dream at this point, but I must maintain my fath.  Note,
I do not ask nor want anyone to help in any way that would take from
themself or their family resources that they require. This truly is a
last ditch attempt, as my parents are both deceased, and it is only in
goodfaith that I write this post. I welcome any comments or
suggestions or recomendations.  My name is Stephen G. Smith, 4900 East
University, #1122, Odessa, Texas 79762.

Curing Molecules Found

Most people are unaware of the computing power required to find cures
for diseases like Cancer, HIV and MS.

Check out http://www.find-a-drug.org/cancer-tab.html
And the research that the University of Oxford has done:
http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/

Having had and known people who have fought cancer and Aids (HIV), this
seems like a great project for all to join and help cure it before we
die from it. Look at http://www.find-a-drug.org/frame.html, this
application is one of the worlds leading sources for chemist to find
molecules which fight these diseases. By using your computer when you
don’t, it looks to solve complex problem associated with electrical
bonds and molecules. This is known as a distributed computing solution.

To assist in this effort, please follow the instructions below:

Download software from Find-A-Drug.Org : http://www.find-a-
drug.org/fadv123c.exe (windows) or http://www.find-a-
drug.org/fadv123c.tgz (linux)

Run the install, it will ask for a nickname you can use mine DRingdahl
or make one up for yourself. It will then ask for your Email, use mine
d…@dialaccess.net or use your own. (if you use your own, you will need
to open your email and respond to several questions).

This will then run setup. When done, currently it will download updates
as needed, and work units for the solution. You will then see a light
blue and dark blue icon in your tool tray (bottom right side of computer
screen) and probably a molecule being worked. Right click the icon, then
move to setup and left click once. That will bring you to the setup, at
this point click on the ‘General’ tab, and enter 2039 for the team
number. That is Team Anandtech ( a great website for tech issues and
bleeding edge computers) www.anandtech.com. Also change the Think
Graphics to Hidden, so you won’t have to see the molecule that is being
worked over on the screen.

This program runs in a nice mode (stops as soon as you need the cpu)
mode. It will not slow down your computer, spam your computer or give
out any info. This is a legit project from several well know sponsors
like Intel and Oxford.

Please install this to help us cure these plagues with affect our daily
lives.

Peace

DRingdahl

lipodystrophy

Are there any ways to keep lipodystrophy at bay, and once the fat
begins to accummulate, to "burn" it off?

Kind regards,

You don’t know the FIRST thing about NO. It can have both positive AND
negative effects.  This is a bizarre, pseudo-scientific dithering that
makes it easy to dismiss supplements as crap.

HIV sequencing protocol

I still haven’t got around to reading up on the method used to achieve
the claimed sequencing of HIV. I wonder if anyone here can outline the
protocol that was used and/or the relevant paper(s).

Breastfeeding

Other data suggest that exclusive breastfeeding is the way to go.
Otherwise, exclusive formula feeding is ONLY an option where an
uninterrupted supply is available.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Despite an earlier study, there is
insufficient evidence to support the theory that breastfeeding has a
detrimental effect on the health of HIV-infected women, researchers
contend in April 30th issue of the journal AIDS.

Findings from a "well conducted but relatively small study" conducted
in Kenya had suggested that breastfeeding led to a significant
increase in mortality among HIV-infected women, Dr. Wafaie W. Fawzi
told Reuters Health. (See Reuters Health report May 24, 2001).

Dr. Fawzi and others re-examined the association between breastfeeding
and maternal HIV-1 disease progression in a larger group of women from
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, who were followed for up to 6 years. They
were able to gather the complete duration of breastfeeding for 597
women, partial information on duration of breastfeeding for another 186
women, and establish the duration of exclusive breastfeeding for 698
women.

In Cox proportional hazards models, "breastfeeding had no adverse
effect on the occurrence of several indicators of maternal health
including mortality, anemia, decline in CD4 immune cells, and loss of
body weight," said Dr. Fawzi, from the Harvard School of Public Health
in Boston.

In multivariate analyses, "neither breastfeeding status nor the
duration of exclusive or partial breastfeeding was associated with
HIV-1 disease progression," the authors report. "These associations
remained insignificant when women with relatively low and high CD4
cell counts were analyzed separately," they add.

While breastfeeding does not appear to adversely effect maternal
health, "women should continue to weigh the pros (advantages in
reducing risks of diarrhea and other childhood infections) and cons
(risk of transmission of HIV) of breastfeeding with respect to how
that may affect the health of their children," Dr. Fawzi said.

"That decision will factor in several issues including access to safe
alternatives to breast milk, among other social and cultural factors,"
he added.
